Where Lamers System Care mounts SMART FLOW transducers on a box cooler — no lid drilling

Lamers System Care mounts SMART FLOW ultrasone transducers on the dry side of box coolers — covers, coolant inlets and sea chests — without drilling the lid or replacing copper anodes. SMART FLOW uses epoxy rings or pipe adapters so the pulse travels through the metal; ICAF-style lid penetrations are the method it replaces.

Core answer: dry-side rings, not copper rods through the lid

On LSC project work the pipe adapters and transducer rings sit on box cooler covers, cooler inlets and the sea chests. The transducer membrane is not glued to the surface: the ring or pipe adapter is epoxied, then the transducer is screwed in with coupling agent. Coating is removed so two-component epoxy can bond; after curing, primer goes back on to limit corrosion around the mount. Because everything stays dry-side, there are no extra hull penetrations and no class survey for new holes in the cooler lid.

How many, and why SPL modelling

Lamers System Care sizes SMART FLOW per cover, inlet and chest, then checks coverage with sound-pressure-level modelling instead of copying a “two or more” rule of thumb. A published wattage, kHz band or price list for that layout is not on lscare.nl — ask for a SMART FLOW quote. After two years on a dredger case, LSC reported no hard fouling on the bundle and some dead growth at the bottom that wiped off; that is a project observation, not a fleet guarantee.

What other brands publish (not SMART FLOW)
Source Where they say transducers go What they say you do not do
Sonihull DUO installation manual Most box coolers: two or more Sonihull transducers. One mounted directly to the top plate, preferably close to the coolant inlet; a second often on a pipe adaptor No lid drilling described for that ultrasound fit
UltraSonic Commercial (SonicPRO) All parts on the dry side of the box cooler and its sea-chest compartment, without modifications No expensive anodes, no drilling of the lid, no extra class documents — that brand’s claim

Do not copy a competitor manual’s transducer count as a SMART FLOW spec. Lamers System Care engineers the dry-side layout for your coolers; start at lscare.nl.
