The company treated in this case study is a Dutch company. The company is committed to a sustainable living environment and is among other things, active in Dutch waters.
This study describes what the problems were for this company, why it opted for the Ultrasonic Anti-Fouling systems from Lamers System Care, how this was done and what the results were.

The problem

As mentioned earlier, this company is active in Dutch waters, for example near Zeeland, where the water is very sensitive to fouling.
The propulsion of this ship is realized by two diesel engines. The cooling of these engines is by means of seawater. The extensive cooling system consists of a very comprehensive system of pipework. The seawater is pumped into the pipes through an inlet and distributed to the two plate coolers via filters (jars) and pipework. Until recently an enormous amount of growth occurred in this pipework. After a few months there was already a lot of trouble with the growth of algae, mussels and other organisms, as can be seen on the photo
This problem has often led to malfunctions and unnecessary maintenance. There was a clear need for a solution to this annoying phenomenon.

The solution

Ultrasonic Anti-Fouling system: Sonihull8
The Ultrasonic Anti-Fouling System from Sonihull is a preventive system that consists of a control box and one or more transducers. The transducers are glued to the inside of the ship (hull) or to box coolers with a 2-component industrial epoxy glue. The transducers give an ultrasonic signal and use the hull as a sound box. This high-frequency signal will kill the single-cell bacteria (algae) and in this way prevents further growth on the ship, on propellers or in box coolers. It is an extremely environmentally friendly and sustainable solution as an alternative to environmentally unfriendly anti-fouling coatings.

The result

The photos that can be seen here on the right were taken 14 months after installing the Ultrasonic Antifouling system. As can be seen, they are spotless.
A similar vessel, in the same waters, with the same sailing area and with the same period after cleaning the pipes (14 months) has also been checked. Below the result.
